 Post subject: Upcoming upgrades and changes...

Good Morning Everyone,
I'm in the midst of working out some possible upgrades for the board.

First, it'll be moving to newer hardware. Not terribly new, but newer than what its on now.

Second, the software that the board runs on is going to be upgrades from WG2 to WG3.2 (or 3.3 if it;s stable when it's time to actually make the move).

This upgrade is the tricky part. None of my current modules/games will be able to be directly moved to 3.2. I need to get new versions of everything. Some things aren't available for 3.2, so they need to be replaced with something similar.

My biggest concern is TA. This is what most of you guys play. When i make this move, we'll be moving to either TAII, or TA 2008. 2008 is still in development, and its basically an entire re-write of the game. TAII is an updated version of TA5.6D (what we run) so the game itself is similar to what we have. It had a few problems that i need to try to work out first. Mainly, it's got a TINY world. I'm attempting to work with the games owner to see if he'll let me work on porting the old world into the newer game. I'm pretty confident that with my tools and knowledge of 5.6d, we can get this done.

I'll be posting more once this is closer to realization. Right now, theres still a bit up in the air about the upgrade, and i'm not 100% sure it's going to happen.

3.2 is the more stable of the versions (in my opinion) You can always run WG 3.2 NT as the main bbs and then telnet or rlogin to the old WG2 bbs. I run my old WG 2 DOS bbs like this. Only problem is a bit of lagg. The old WG seems to need a 20 min warm up. You will need a 3 com 905xx network card to make it work correctly in the wg 2 box.
